Kota University (UOK) कोटा विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना राजस्थान सरकार द्वारा वर्ष 2003 में ‘कोटा विश्वविद्यालय अधिनियम, 2003’ के माध्यम से की गई थी और 7 जून 2003 को दिनांकित राज्य सरकार राजपत्र संख्या F.2 (12) / विधान -2 / 2003 को अधिसूचित किया गया था। विश्वविद्यालय राजस्थान सरकार के आदेश संख्या F.21 (2) Edu-4/2003 दिनांक 9 सितंबर 2003 के अधिनियम, ‘कोटा विश्वविद्यालय अधिनियम’ की धारा -4 (1) के प्रावधान के तहत अस्तित्व में आया।
